Journalism: making sense of publicly available information

Great article from Peter Timms noting that journalists’ lack of interest in public information leads to them missing important information. As I’ve long argued, the move towards mass disclosure, open-access and FOI means there’s lots of journalism to be done making sense of public data, as well as journalism build around finding out data.

From the article on Open Secrets

But in any case the funny thing about all this is that the “evidence” is contained in documents which have been publicly available on the Home Office website for seven months.
